EXHIBITION HISTORY
Having exhibited in eastern and central Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey from 1964 through 1984, the artist relocated to Europe in 1984. While working and exhibiting in Nuernberg and Berlin, Germany for ten years, and England for four years, the artist continued to evolve as a creator of abstract forms. Upon returning to the United States and settling in Vermont in 1998, the artist joined the Windham Art Gallery in Brattleboro. The artist has participated in the New Members show in January 2000, exhibited in the many group shows at the gallery, has been co-curator of the Abstract Show in August 2001, and curator of the Abstract Show in October 2002. In May 2000 the artist had a one woman show of 20 paintings at the Doberg Museum in Buende, Germany.

BIOGRAPHY
After graduating in 1956 from Westtown Friends School near Philadelphia, I came to Penn State, eventually enrolling in the Art Department in 1957. At the same time, a young man named Bruce Shobaken came to Penn State to teach printmaking and painting. I knew I wanted to paint using the structural elements of shape, line and color. It was my extraordinary good fortune to be able to have Mr. Shobaken as a teacher. He taught me how I could forge a visual language using organic growth of form.

After graduating in 1960 in Applied Art, I enrolled as a graduate student in Penn State because I wanted to continue my work with Mr. Shobaken. I graduated as Master of Arts in 1964.

From 1964 until 1984 I lived in Port Matilda, PA. I continued to paint and exhibit in universities and arts’ festivals.

From 1984-1994 I had the opportunity to live in Nuernberg and Berlin, Germany. Through Das Brueke Museum in Berlin and other museums I came to know the German Expressionists: Emile Nolde, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Erich Heckel, Max Pechstein as well as Paul Klee and Paula Mordersohn-Becker. These painters have influenced me greatly.

From 1994-1997 I lived in St. Neots, England in the vicinity of Cambridge. I exhibited at the Halesworth Gallery in Sussex.

From 1997 until 2008 I lived and painted in Bellows Falls, VT. I have exhibited extensively in the Southern Vermont area. Currently, from 2008 to the present, I live and work in Brooklyn, NY.
